    I’ve got a skincare revelation for all my goddesses out there. Have you ever felt like you’re just slathering WAY too many products on your face? I know I have, and we’re not alone! Our beauty aisles are overflowing with “holy grail” and “life-changing” potions that, let’s be honest, make us want them all. As we get wiser (and more fabulous) with age, our skincare routine just seems to grow longer and longer. But what if there’s another way?

    I’ve discovered something called a skincare detox, also known as skin fasting, and it just makes total sense that we should give our beautiful faces a break. This detox involves taking a break from all those fancy and complicated skincare products and returning to our roots with a simplified routine.

    So, why is this important? First off, your skin could use a darn vacation! Giving your skin a break from all those ingredients and steps can actually help it regain balance, calm irritation, and even lead to clearer skin. And let’s not forget the amazing time and money savings involved!

    The Benefits of Simplifying Your Skincare Routine

    I know what you’re thinking – will my skin survive without my 12-step routine? 🤔 Trust me, it will – in fact, it may even thank you! Here are some benefits that we can enjoy:

    1. Reduced risk of irritation and breakouts: Too many products and active ingredients can clog our pores and cause all those unfriendly breakouts. Simplifying can actually help our skin stay balanced and less irritated.

It’s important to be patient, give your skin time to heal and then adjust the duration of the detox based on how it feels and reacts.

So, perhaps it’s time we stop worrying about our partners’ desires and start focusing on celebrating our relationships and mutual attraction.

    So Where Does That Leave Us?

    How about rather than feeling sidelined, maybe we should instead embrace our age and the life experiences that come with it. Let’s refuse to be dictated by societal norms, forge our own unique path, and allow for a world in which our confidence and intimacy flourish. Ultimately, this mindset will positively impact our intimate relationships and enable us to grow and thrive sexually.

    Welcome!

    Hey there, what a crazy year it’s been! I’ve been through it all – facing my fears, embracing change, and making a gutsy decision to take control of my life. I mean, I even had the courage to ditch a high-paying job that made me miserable, cashed out my 401k, and invest in myself.

    But let me tell you, right after making that daring move, I totally freaked out and panicked! I ended up signing myself up to see a psychiatrist, questioning my own sanity. Like, what had I just done?

    Now, I’m new to therapy, so I didn’t want to show up without a clear purpose or goals in mind. I could totally picture myself sitting on this comfy couch, sweating and stuttering when asked, “So, why are you here today?” Time ticking away, money slipping through my fingers. Not exactly how I wanted to start a session with someone who charges by the hour.

    So, I did some soul-searching before the first appointment. I asked myself some tough questions:

    • Where am I letting fear control my life and hold me back?
    • What negative thoughts are stopping me from reaching my full potential?
    • How can I change my mindset and create the life I truly desire?

    And wow, it hit me hard. Fear and negativity were consuming my every move. I had zero energy, stuck in a job that wasn’t fulfilling, constantly feeling inadequate. As a mother, doubts consumed me. Hanging out with friends started feeling like a chore. And failure? Oh my, it terrified me. I realized I wasn’t living up to my true strength and self-worth.

    Oh, and let’s not even talk about social media! The constant stream of people showcasing their perfect lives left me feeling like I was drowning in shallow water.

    I desperately craved genuine, heart-to-heart connections. I wanted to learn from other women’s journeys and be uplifted, carried upstream past all the fear, towards my best life. Surely, I couldn’t be the only one feeling this way.

    That’s when Beauty Brains Bubbly came to life! And guess what? I’m inviting you to join me on this extraordinary journey. Let’s create a safe space where women can have honest conversations, share impactful stories, and truly make a difference. Together, let’s dive in headfirst, tackle those hush-hush topics, and be open and vulnerable.     The challenges that come with chasing your dreams!

    We just finished taping a show on the pursuit of lifelong dreams and overcoming obstacles.  Our guest host talked about her journey from Lithuania to America, that she made alone when she was just eighteen years old.  Her path wasn’t easy; she will tell you she was young and a bit naïve with dreams of a life in a new country, that in her eyes, held the potential for independence, increased opportunity, education & ultimately the chance to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a dentist.

    As she shared her story, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of us would be so brave as to leave the comfort of our families and travel alone to a new country in pursuit of our dreams?  Each ‘no’ that came her way (and there were quite a few) she brushed off, picked herself back up and found a way to redirect, improve, & overcome.  How many doors being slammed into your face are you willing to take before you give up and accept the entrance to your dreams as being closed?  Our guests’ journey is an inspiring story and a reminder not to let our fears or the obstacles put in our path stand in the way of our dreams.

    There are many challenges to be faced in the pursuit of our greatest life.  We must first overcome years of conditioning that teach us to avoid unpleasant feelings because if the dream is big enough it will be difficult to obtain, the journey uncomfortable and should scare you.  I’ve learned over the years that for me, the more fear associated with the pursuit, the greater the reward.  But even as I intellectually know this to be true and have experience after experience confirming its validity, I am still at times stopped in my tracks as I assess the leap before me, and question whether I should jump.

    What stops you from taking the leap?  Is it the degree of difficulty?  Fear of failure?  The change that it requires.  The level of focus or the amount of time it takes to accomplish?

    Maybe you let others dictate the level to which you even allow yourself to dream.  I know I’ve certainly found myself stuck in the trenches of feeling the need for the approval of others before I deem myself worthy or ready.

    Waiting for that moment when you feel like you have it all figure out before you act can be interminable.  Tying your dreams up in what other people think about them definitely can set you up for disappointment, as you suddenly find yourself forgoing your personal passions, editing the size and scope of the dream, and potentially giving up altogether on the things that matter most to you, in order to keep others happy and avoid their disappointment or disapproval.  When we release the need to please, to be perfect, to have it all figured out before we make that first big leap, we can free ourselves of the binds that hold us back.  Easier said than done…I know.

    I recently jumped off a huge cliff, quit a well-paying job, and ventured out on my own to build my big best life.  It hasn’t been easy.  It has required a ton of changes and sacrifices along the way.  I don’t sleep much these days, as I’ve learned to do new things along the way like build a website, production, editing, advertising, etc.  But if I had waited until all this knowledge had already been in place, I know I would still be waiting.  Sometimes you must throw yourself into the deep end and trust that you will learn to swim.

    As my bank account goes in and out of the red and the stress of financial failure looms like a dark cloud over my head, it takes courage to trust that everything will be okay.   But hey, I haven’t drowned yet, and I know from experience, that the end rewards will be grand because I’ve never been so scared in my life!

    A big thanks to all of the trailblazers out there like our recent guest host on the show, who have cleared the path, and showing us a glimpse of all that is possible.

    Be bold, be brave, go big with your dreams and don’t wait…now is the perfect time, the only time, so leap!

    Nix Clumpy Lashes & Mascara That Runs

    I struggle with mascara because one way or another it always seems to clump, run or spread. Maybe it is my Italian skin or the fact that at almost 50 I’m sporting some pretty heavy-duty eye cream but either way I hate glancing in a mirror and realizing I’ve got dark black mascara rings under my eyes. Ugh.

    A girlfriend introduced me to eyelash extensions back in 2007 and I’ve been wearing them on and off ever since.

    I get them filled every three weeks. For me, it has become a beauty routine no different than getting a mani-pedi. In fact, I would forgo the mani-pedi for my lashes any day of the week, should I have to choose between one or the other.

    Sound crazy? Here is why it’s worth it:

    1. They just flat out make you feel prettier. If our eyes are the windows to our soul; lash extensions bring attention, open them up, create a soft natural look, and make eyes look brighter and more awake.
    2. They dramatically cut down on time spent primping. If my eyes look bright and awake and great, I am ready to head out the door with not much else needed.
    3. They are a true waterproof solution! I can shower, swim, and even cry without worrying that mascara is running down my face making me look like a raccoon.
    4. No need to crimp, curl, scrub or poke. Other than running a little brush through them in the mornings they look great just the way they are.
    5. Tammy Faye clumps? Never.

    The only downside with wearing lash extensions for as many years as I have is that I hate to have to take breaks from them in order to keep my natural lashes healthy & growing. One way I avoid any damage to my natural lashes is to use a lash growth serum. You do have to be careful though that the serum you buy doesn’t contain oil which can break down your lash glue. XLash is my go-to for keeping my lashes thick, healthy and growing. Even when you aren’t using lash extensions this is an amazing product to add to your beauty kit.
    Longer lashes with Xlash
    I highly recommend lash extensions to anyone thinking about trying them. Just make sure that the person who does them is a certified lash technician.  If you are in Los Angeles you can check out my lady Karlene @ Lashing All Over the City. She is one of the most reasonably priced lash technicians in town, has years of experience, and my fave part…you get to lounge in a lazy boy while she works!

    What I wouldn’t do is get them done on a whim in the back of a nail salon— do your research, get referrals, and go to a professional.
