    Hey there, what a crazy year it’s been! I’ve been through it all – facing my fears, embracing change, and making a gutsy decision to take control of my life. I mean, I even had the courage to ditch a high-paying job that made me miserable, cashed out my 401k, and invest in myself.

    But let me tell you, right after making that daring move, I totally freaked out and panicked! I ended up signing myself up to see a psychiatrist, questioning my own sanity. Like, what had I just done?

    Now, I’m new to therapy, so I didn’t want to show up without a clear purpose or goals in mind. I could totally picture myself sitting on this comfy couch, sweating and stuttering when asked, “So, why are you here today?” Time ticking away, money slipping through my fingers. Not exactly how I wanted to start a session with someone who charges by the hour.

    So, I did some soul-searching before the first appointment. I asked myself some tough questions:

    • Where am I letting fear control my life and hold me back?
    • What negative thoughts are stopping me from reaching my full potential?
    • How can I change my mindset and create the life I truly desire?

    And wow, it hit me hard. Fear and negativity were consuming my every move. I had zero energy, stuck in a job that wasn’t fulfilling, constantly feeling inadequate. As a mother, doubts consumed me. Hanging out with friends started feeling like a chore. And failure? Oh my, it terrified me. I realized I wasn’t living up to my true strength and self-worth.

    Oh, and let’s not even talk about social media! The constant stream of people showcasing their perfect lives left me feeling like I was drowning in shallow water.

    I desperately craved genuine, heart-to-heart connections. I wanted to learn from other women’s journeys and be uplifted, carried upstream past all the fear, towards my best life. Surely, I couldn’t be the only one feeling this way.

We see travel as an opportunity to break free from our everyday routines, and this change of scenery helps us reduce stress and recharge our batteries even while carrying our usual work load. I notice myself engaging in conversation with strangers more than usual, trying out new and interesting restaurants even when it’s a business travel city I’ve been to a million times before, looking up local events to check out, all of which end up contributing to a richer, more fulfilling experience away from home.

    How to Bring the Traveler’s Mindset Home

    Here are some ideas I plan to put into practice when I get back home to help me keep this explorer spirit alive in my daily life:

    Challenge my daily habits by introducing small changes, such as trying a new coffee shop or taking a different route to work.

    Visit local museums, parks, or attractions that I’ve either never explored before or only take advantage of when I’m entertaining visitors away from THEIR homes.

    There are tons of cultural events, food festivals, social gatherings, and live music adventures happening in my city too and I plan on making it a point to join in.

    Even if I’m out with my husband or my local friends I should always make it a point to engage in conversations with new people when we are out because they bring new stories, perspectives and potentially widen our friends circle.

    While I love our old standby fave restaurants there are so many new places popping up just waiting to be explored. I’m going to make a point of being open to traveling just a few miles farther for a meal out just to experience something new and exciting.

    By adopting the mindset of an excited traveler while at home, we can infuse our daily lives with a renewed sense of adventure and curiosity. By embracing the unfamiliar and incorporating small changes into our routines, we can counter the mundaneness of everyday life, ultimately leading to increased happiness, personal growth, and a more profound connection to the world around us.

    In these uncertain times, it can be easy to forget the joys of travel and exploration. By taking ownership of our environment, we can rediscover old passions with fresh eyes and make our home as exciting as any place in the world.     The Quest for Happiness: Unlocking True Joy Within

    Let’s get real for a minute: we all want to be happy. It’s like this never-ending chase, right? We work our butts off, chase success, and buy all the fancy things, hoping that somehow it will make us feel content and joyful. But here’s the kicker: as we get older, we start realizing that happiness isn’t a one-size-fits-all kinda thing. It’s actually something that comes from within us, from our own values, passions, and relationships.

    Take me, for example. I hit my fifties and finally decided to escape the corporate grind by starting my own business. I thought this would be my ticket to peace and happiness. But boy, was I wrong. Instead, I ended up recreating the same stressful environment at home. I had chosen a business based on what I thought would bring in quick cash, not what I truly cared about. I was stuck doing mind-numbing tasks and selling products that didn’t align with my values. It was soul-sucking.

    That’s when I started reflecting on my life and what truly brought me joy. I always had a passion for creative outlets like writing, acting, and art. But I never thought of pursuing them seriously because I thought they were just hobbies. Well, it was time to change that. I immersed myself in the world of content creation, learned from those who were already doing what I admired, and started creating and sharing my own work. And you know what? It was freaking amazing. The feeling of accomplishment I got from doing what I loved was on a whole other level.

    Now, I’m doing something I’m truly passionate about and making money from it. I feel incredibly lucky to have turned my love for creativity into a viable career.

    The road to happiness isn’t a walk in the park, though. It takes some serious soul-searching, reflection, and trying new things. You gotta figure out what activities light you up, what values guide your life, and who supports and nourishes you. Then, push yourself out of your comfort zone and believe that you can actually make a living doing what you love.
